He also spoke on the importance of building the church on the sound doctrine of the cross of Jesus Christ and how this requires church leaders not only to preach this message but also live it. In the closing remarks, Stephen Gachengo hailed this first breakfast as a success and was attended by over 60 church leaders from around Nairobi who expressed a desire to have more events of this nature.
Great Harvest Crusade: Karuri,Kiambu.
The village of Karuri is located approximately 50 kilometers north of Nairobi and was the venue of the second crusade. The local branch of Harvesters Christian Church had enthusiastically erected posters and distributed flyers all across Karuri inviting people to the open-air meetings. The location of the stage was in the village centre surrounded by a busy bus and taxi rank with shops, street traders and bars all within a 50-metre radius of the stage. Over the duration of this four-day crusade, Basil preached the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ for all who acknowledge their lives of sin and need for salvation. Over 45 people, some young, some old, drunkards and even drug addicts came to salvation in Christ whilst others were born again in their homes kilometers away as a result of hearing the gospel preached over the booming public address system. The local pastors and church leaders in Karuri were greatly encouraged to see the Holy Spirit moving in such a mighty way as people come to know Christ as Lord and savior, something they had not experienced in Karuri for decades.
